Invisible Trail Merino Collection
You may wonder why on Invisible Company's website and Instagram there are now consumer products and specifically for running and trail running. Here’s a little sharing of how we went from trail trash picking to sustainable packaging and back to the trails—and why it’s still us.
Trash On Trails: Founders of Invisible Company’s Journey Running On Trail - The Trail That Started It All
A few years before Invisible Company was still invisible, we Devana and Flavien were newbie hikers in Hong Kong. Wrong shoes, sweaty shirts, daily backpacks, barely enough water, and zero snacks—sound familiar?
We ventured into Hong Kong’s stunning trails and quickly learned we needed better gear and serious training. But what hit us harder than our newbie mistakes was the trash littering the paths we loved. Bottles, wrappers, tissues, forgotten gear—it was everywhere, not really Invisible. So, we started picking up trash, run after run. That spark ignited strong eco-anxiety, enough to push efforts toward creating Invisible Company.
After months of research and dedication, we launched #INVISIBLEBAG—a water-soluble, biodegradable, compostable alternative to plastic, with a focus on the garment industry’s plastic polybags. Today, successfully replacing over 8 million plastic bags with our alternative across multiple countries and countless clean-ups organized, we’re still driven by that same mission: clean trails, sustainable solutions, real impact.

Why Trail Running Gear?
As our trail running obsession grew—we accumulated hours of training, elevation gains, and quite a few kilometers—so did our need for gear that could keep up. We approached this the same way we built #INVISIBLEBAG: materials first, with a 360-degree view of sustainability as a catalyst for community, education, and impact. The market is flooded with synthetic fabrics like polyester and nylon—cheap, durable (maybe too durable, since they never biodegrade), and notorious for trapping sweat and stink.
We wanted something different, and better eventually, so we looked to the past. Here we go: “Merino wool,” nature’s original performance fabric. Used by nomads 7,000 years ago, Merino is breathable, odor-resistant, biodegradable, and perfect for multi-day adventures without a washing machine.
As we were training for the Marathon des Sables Cappadocia—and grueling for a solution to a multi-day race with no showers and high chances of terrible smell—we shared our vision and idea of Merino with elite runner Wong Ho Chung, whom we met earlier for an interview. We couldn’t imagine he would like the idea and that we would collaborate together one day. But yes, things come true. We are now teaming up with The Peak Hunter and Wong Ho Chung.

Together, we’ve created Invisible x The Peak Hunter: A collection of Merino socks and running tee built for everyone, from elite runners to weekend wanderers. But this isn’t just about apparel gear. For every sale, we collect funds (HK$15 from socks, HK$55-80 from tees) to support trail and beach clean-ups and The Peak Hunter’s youth programs.
From January to December 2025 alone, we’ve organized 13 clean-ups, removing over 1000kg of trash with 390+ volunteers. These funds cover promoting clean-ups, calling for volunteers, logistics, coordinating with Hong Kong’s EPD for trash collection, and keeping our trails invisible—free of litter, full of purpose.

A Loop Back to the Trail
Why shift from packaging to trail gear? It’s not a pivot—it’s an evolution. #INVISIBLEBAG remains at our core, replacing plastic for brands worldwide with alternative and sustainable materials. We are still innovating with a 95% biobased #INVISIBLEBAG 2.0. But as runners, we see trails as more than a playground—they’re our inspiration. The litter problem hasn’t gone away, and neither has our commitment to fixing it. Invisible Trail blends our love for running, obsession with sustainable materials, and drive to clean up the planet, one step at a time.
What’s Next?
We’re still the Invisible Company you know—fighting plastic waste, educating the students and general public through sharing and bioplastics workshops, and hosting clean-ups. But now, we’re also outfitting you to run, hike, and explore your invisible power with gear that’s as sustainable as it is high-performing.
Whether you’re chasing peaks or picking up trash, Invisible Trail is for you. Join us to keep trails clean and make invisible touches visible.
